Folk Music festivals in the UK

The UK has a rich history of traditional folk music. Some believe that it is quite difficult to admire English folk music. At times, English folk music is considered the poor cousin of the British Isles. It isn’t a part of the UK’s mainstream music culture as its Scottish and Irish counterparts. Many of the English folk musicians aren’t proud of the fact that they are associated with English folk music and Brexit has compounded that, but there are people who still take pride in being associated with English folk music. It is something that is still cherished and celebrated.

The UK happens to be a music lover’s paradise. Some of the biggest bands in the history of pop music have performed in the UK over the years. Patti Smith performed at the Roundhouse in 2007.  Over the years, the venue’s popularity has grown by leaps and bounds.

If you happen to be a fan of English folk music, then brace yourself. Over the years, the UK has been hosting some of the biggest folk music festivals and other VIP events. And this year, it’s going to be no different. If you happen to be a party animal, then you just cannot afford to miss these super-awesome folk music festivals.

Bath festival

Bath festival has superseded the Bath International Music Festival. It’s  a multi-arts fest that keeps literature and music at its heart. This year’s programme focused on literature, but some rocking folk tunes made the audiences groove and sing. Here, the party never stops. The festival is organised in May. If you’re planning to come to the UK in summer, then make sure that you attend the concert. 

Cambridge folk festival

It is the UK’s best-known folk music festival that keeps going from strength to strength. Some of the biggest musicians in and around UK perform here. Some budding artistes from the work of music have also been given an opportunity to perform at the venue. If you are planning to visit the UK, then do attend this concert. Who knows, you might get to see Olivia Newton-John and Amy Sky performing live on stage.  The festival is held in July. 

Sidmouth folk week

Sidmouth, a coastal town in East Devon knows how to party. It has been hosting a popular folk festival since 1955. The event goes on for a week. The event covers the smallest of pubs in town. Picking highlights is impossible. It’s time to wear your dancing shoes. Get your friends along and join the fun. The event is held in August. 

Hits Radio Live

That’s not all. If you’re a die-hard music fan and want to listen to some seasoned hits, then you can tune into Hits Radio. Manchester Arena will be hosting the event in November this year. Make sure you are there to catch all the adrenaline-pumping hits. Ardent music lovers cannot afford to miss out on all the fun. The event follows the opening of a new radio station (Hits Radio).
