For more than 15 years now Daniel Lucas and his musical amigos have put on a charity gig towards the end of December to unite the local gig going scene for fun and japes in the name of a good and relevant cause at Fibbers. They are always busy and buzzing affairs, and the bands offer up some one off collaborations and covers as well as crowd favourites  to reward those punters who attend.

This year’s will be on Friday December 23rd. Entry is kept to a flat fiver to keep it affordable when so many other costs are to be factored into people’s purse strings, though further donations are always welcomed of course.

The venue is very kindly donated FOC by Tim Hornsby and the crew there, the bands all play for the love of it, and the lighting, sound, stage hands, and door staff work for free out of the goodness of their charitable, music loving hearts. This year is set to be an EPIC rock and roll extravaganza from the get go, and will be raising funds for the wonderful local mental health support charity York Mind.

The Boss Caine big band (with added brass section) will be in full swing with some guests joining them along the way for songs old, new and borrowed for the occasion. It’s been another busy buzzing year for Daniel Lucas and his ever changing Boss Caine crew, with the addition of regular London (Aces and Eights in Tufnell Park on the first Tuesday of each month) and York (The Fulford Arms every other Wednesday) Sundown Sessions roots influenced showcase nights they host, to the already relentless tour schedule, which has included supports to Richard Hawley, The Undertones,  The Christians and many more this year alone. Their long awaited new album is expected to land early 2017, and is already sounding like a HUGE step forward.

Bull ; The much loved grunge influenced slacker pop rockers  whose glorious singalong, hook and harmony laden anthems have made a huge impact on the local scene since the release of their cracking debut album ‘She looks like Kim’, as well as the band hammering the London scene and embarking on several tours of Europe. Their next album is already shaping up to be an instant classic.

Naked 6; Relative newcomers who have quickly made a name for themselves with their high energy live shows and catchy rifftastic tunes that take influence from such classic bluesy rockers as Cream, Led Zep, AC/DC , adding a modern twist and a Stooges-esque attitude. This trio is definitely to be filed under ‘ones to watch’ for 2017.

The Howl And The Hum; Incredibly exciting new York based band fronted by songwriter Sam Griffiths and backed by three of the local scenes most talented stalwarts, The Howl And The Hum already sound like future festival headliners in the making with their unique brand of intelligent indie rock and roll. They have been writing and recording like demons and I can guarantee you there will be a lot of noise made about this fantastic combo in the year to come.
