As with many people my age, I was first introduced to him through the medium of a t-shirt. Not a typical introduction, but he was not a typical artist. Johnston was innovative, beautiful and sincere. True Love Will Find You In The End is a masterpiece, the lyrics are a true journey that is optimistic, sober, comforting and painfully honest.
We wanted to capture the song live to emulate Johnston’s recording technique and vulnerability, though I’d imagine with his instinctual playing he would have had it down a lot faster than us.
