Satyricon have announced an exclusive show at Oslo Opera House on September 8, 2013, where they will perform together with Norway’s 55-strong National Opera Chorus.

The special event is part of the Ultima Oslo Contemporary Music Festival, which coincides with the worldwide release of Satyricon’s eponymous ninth studio album.

Satyricon’s Satyr comments: “Satyricon excels as a band, the bigger the platform is. In Norway, there is no greater stage than the main hall of our new Opera House. There is nowhere better suited to provide the dynamics, power and authenticity to such an occasion than the Opera Chorus and SATYRICON. We are also excited to have a couple of special musical friends come and play their part as well. Ladies and gentlemen – welcome!”

The Opera Chorus’ lead conductor, David Maiwald adds: “Mixing different musical expressions is always exciting. When the internationally acclaimed black metal band Satyricon meets the voluminous voices of the Norwegian National Opera Chorus, we expect a powerful and monumental result, rich in innovative surprises.”

Satyricon also headline the Pepsi Max Stage (Stage 3) on Sunday, June 16 at Donington Park’s Download Festival.

The Downpatrick quartet consists of Cormac Neeson (vocals), Paul Mahon (guitar), Micky Waters (bass) and James Heatley (drums). Cormac Neeson: “We’re back and we’re back in a big  way. Our love for rock ‘n’ roll is still as fresh as a skinny dip in the Lagan – that’s the big river that runs through Belfast! And we really believe that this is by far and away our best album to date. We can’t wait to get out and play it live!”

The band are set to play their first headline dates since March 2012, undertaking a full 40-date European tour through October and November 2013.

After returning from playing some US dates (SXSW / NYC + LA) and twelve months after playing his debut show, Shaun Hencher / Virals will be playing Field Day this Saturday (25) and the Field Day Pre-party at The Shacklewell Arms this friday (24), before taking some time off to work on a full length.

The band have also confirmed a European tour later his year to promote the record.

The album is the band’s first in four years, following 2009′s ‘Battle For The Sun’. It features ten new tracks recorded in London over the last year and will be to be available in five different formats, including 3D Lenticular Super Deluxe Box Set and a coloured vinyl edition.

Fans can pre-order the album from May 31 in time for the official release date of September 16.

Tickets will go on sale at 9am on Friday (May 24) and the band are expected to follow their European dates with shows in the US, Latin America, Australia, Asia and more soon.
