Newton Faulkner is about to make a bit of history, as the recording of his fourth album ‘Studio Zoo’ is being streamed live online, 24/7 for five weeks from next week!

His home studio in East London is set up with four cameras, to follow every detail of the ups, downs, dramas and laughs of recording an album – and as with his renowned live performances, this will truly be a one-man-band, with no producer or engineer, just Newton, a bunch of guitars, plus a few special surprise guests.

Newton said: “I am as excited as I am terrified by the prospect of having a house full of cameras film me while trying to record an album. The entire recording process will be streamed live and nothing has been recorded in advance – apart from some particularly good hand claps recorded in Paris. The album will be made before your very eyes, no tricks, no producer and no engineer, just me, a guitar and a few surprise guests.”

‘Studio Zoo’ will be released on August 26.

Rock supergroup, Hellyeah, have announced a new single ‘Bigger God’ to be released on June 10, ahead of their tour Dates in Europe this spring.

‘Bigger God’ is taken from the band’s third album ‘Band Of Brothers’ (Eleven Seven Music), which was released in July 2012 in the US, UK and Europe.

‘Band Of Brothers’ sees Hellyeah taking a slightly different musical direction. Drawing on their former bands’ collective metal roots for inspiration, the influences and style of Mudvayne, Pantera, Damageplan and Nothingface are immediately recognisable throughout the album.

The band recently toured the US with co-headliners All That Remains and support from Nonpoint. Following those shows, Hellyeah will embark on a European run of shows with bands including Korn, P.O.D and others.

UK dates from the European tour are below:

JUNE

16 – Download Festival, Donnington

17 – Electric Ballroom, London (with P.O.D)

Hardcore punk mob The Smoking Hearts are set to play a run of headline dates in March to support the release of their new album ‘Victory!’ on Bomber Music. It all kicks off with a free show at the Old Blue Last (London) on March 26.

As Calvin from the band says, ”We can’t wait for people to hear our new record ‘Victory!’. It’s by far our best work so far, and we know that people are going to love it. Can’t wait to get on the road.” Vocalist Ben Mills is equally excited – “Finally getting ‘Victory!’ released is a dream come true, it’s been a long time coming but it’ll be worth it to get it into people’s ears!

Fresh from the release of their latest album ‘Oceania’, The Smashing Pumpkins are back in the UK this summer and will be playing three dates this July culminating with a huge show at London’s Wembley Arena.

Their latest album ‘Oceania’ marked their first full album since 2007’s ‘Zeitgeist’ and was recorded at singer and guitarist Billy Corgan’s private studio in Chicago with his bandmates: guitarist Jeff Schroeder, drummer Mike Byrne and bassist and vocalist Nicole Fiorentino.

The album was produced by Corgan and Bjorn Thorsrud and mixed by David Bottrill. Marking The Smashing Pumpkins’ seventh studio record, it is “an album within an album,” part of their 44-song work-in-progress, ‘Teargarden By Kaleidyscope’. ‘Oceania’ was created by the band as a true album experience for listeners.

Last year, The Pumpkins performed ‘Oceania’ in full at their solo shows worldwide, backed by visuals prepared by Sean Evans, whose most recent work was assisting Roger Waters on the newest staging of ‘The Wall’. For their 2013 dates The Pumpkins will be using new technology in video mapping to create something new and previously unseen. For the second half of the show, The Pumpkins will perform classics from their body of work.

The Smashing Pumpkins will be coming to the following venues this summer:

JULY 2013

1 – Manchester Academy

2 – Glasgow O2 Academy

22 – Wembley Arena

Tickets go on sale Friday 1st February at 9am –www.gigsandtours.com / 0844 811 0551 and www.gigsinscotland.com.
