In our next spotlight, we chat to guitarist Rhodri Williams from Port Talbot-based metallers All To Ruin.

S] What, or who are your great musical inspirations?

A] “Our influences vary throughout genres, each member has their own influences. The ones that stand out August Burns Red, Ollie Herbert’s from All That Remains and Craig Reynolds from HARP Machine.”

S] What about personally, what kinds of themes and ideas can inspire your songs?

A] “That’s a hard one! It all depends on where we are at the time. Sometimes we write fast and heavy, next we are writing slower melodic songs. We write in the moods that we feel at the time, it never comes out that we want to write a heavy or a slow song, its just how they come out.”

S] What song that you are working on right now best defines your sound, and why?

A] “Another hard one! We don’t really have a song that sounds like us. Our songs all link into each other, we try and give them all that melodic edge.”

S] Do you have a message for any UK fans?

A] “Thanks to everyone that has come out to see us live , liked our Facebook, watched our music video or our webisodes, suggested us to any friends we really appreciate the support!”

S] What can people expect from your live show?

A] “Melodic leads and vocals, intensity, ambient breaks, most importantly tightness, we practice a lot to get as tight as we possible can for any show!”

S] What are some of your biggest challenges right now?

A] “Getting out there, that seems really hard these days. Especially because we don’t fit into a scene. Also we feel that the South Wales music scene is on its arse, however it is slowly getting better!”

S] What’re your plans as we move into 2013?
A] “We’re going to be recording more songs, Getting another video done! Really, just pushing the name out there as much as we can, play every show we get offered no matter where it is!”
