‘If’ the new single by Salvador will be released on January 20 on all major streaming platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and Soundcloud.

On the recording, the band say:

“‘If’ was written from a drum rhythm reminiscent of Weird Fishes/Arpeggi by Radiohead but we added an intro, synthesiser, samples and electronic drums when we turned towards wanting to write more psychedelic and progressive rock rather than post punk, the lyrics are about a resistance colony driven to escape a dystopian planet earth for an uncertain future on the moon.

We recorded the track at Element Studio above our practice room at Chocolate Factory in Hull. It was produced and mastered by Pat Dooner and Carl Conway-Davis.”

Salvador formed in late 2019 when singer Kane and guitarist Matty spoke about starting up a band after meeting at a Johnny Marr gig at The Welly Club in Hull, in early 2020 we recruited drummer Tom and bassist Lewis and Salvador begun writing together.

Collectively Salvador is influenced by classic artists such as Pink Floyd, The Stone Roses, and Radiohead and also modern bands such as King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Fontaines DC, and Yard Act. We named the band after Charles Bronson had changed his name to Charles Salvador in homage to Salvador Dali after he announced he was a ‘born again artist’.

By the time Salvador had a full set of songs written and ready to gig lockdown had started so we couldn’t play live so instead we took regular trips to Young Thugs Studio in York in late 2020 where we made our first recordings. When lockdown was over we hit the Hull music scene gigging frequently throughout 2021 ending the year with a live session at Element Studio we called 01482 666 666.

During 2022 Salvador went from being a five-piece to four so after having to adjust and rewrite most of our tracks and reimagine our sound when writing new music we began gigging again and went back into the studio to record new tracks as a four piece. Since becoming a four piece Salvador has explored a more psychedelic and progressive rock sound incorporating long jamming sections and soundscapes into new tracks and more poetic and conceptual imagery in the lyrics rather than conventional song structure.

After ending 2022 with a one of Salvador’s biggest and best gigs yet on New Years Eve at The Polar Bear we enter 2023 with new single If releasing at the end of January and more recorded tracks waiting to be unleashed in coming months throughout 2023.
