“This album is instantly recognizable as a Foo Fighters record, but there’s something deeper and more musical to it,” says Dave Grohl, guitarist extraordinaire and band frontman.

The recently released artwork hints at the new direction of the album, although Grohl promises that while the album means the band are ‘stretching out’, they won’t lose any of the unique Foo Fighters sound.

With inspiration taken from the eight part HBO series, Sonic Highways, directed by Grohl, the tracks include titles such as ‘Something From Nothing’, ‘Outside’, and ‘I Am A River’ to reflect the connection between album and series. While not a soundtrack to the series, a song was written and recorded in each of the eight cities covered, delving into the deep influence each has had on the development of music.
