Tragedy for Slaughter/Strappado drummer Brain Lourie.

By October 14, 2008 World

I have tragic news for fans of Slaughter/Strappado, the Canadian band. Brian Lourie, the long-time dedicated drummer has died at only 39. Brian joined the band in 1987/1988.Dave Hewson, Vocalist/Guitarist spoke very fondly of him when updating us on this heart felt and terrible tragedy; “[I] just wanted to let everyone know that long-time drummer for SLAUGHTER and STRAPPADO, Brian Lourie, has died of a heart attack at the young age of 39. Brian was one of the best people I have ever met and was a huge part of SLAUGHTER joining in 1987-88 ’till we disbanded in 1992. His sense of humour and love for life made him such a wonderful person who will be greatly missed. I will try to [release] more info as it comes. Love you, bro.” (quote from

Two of their albums have been re-released by Metal mind productions, based in Poland, to commemorate his memory. If you remember the debut album “Strappado” first released in 1986 and “Not dead yet/paranormal” a compilation CD first released not so long ago in 2001, then those two are the albums you should be looking for. If you don’t have these on CD, I recommend you buy them, to help commemorate the memory of a hard working and dedicated drummer that we all love.
