The idea for the night (the first will feature JAKOBY, Otzeki, Bull and more) was to put together a melting pot of genres with some of the best up-and-coming punk, electro, rap and grime artists as well as some of the band’s favorite DJs (James Massiah and Joah) who will be playing feel good party music until the early hours.

People don’t just listen to one genre of music anymore. In the digital age we all have constant access to all the music we might ever want. The discovery of new music is easier than ever. But with recorded music becoming so easily accessible it is the live spectacle that has become the thing of value. You cannot reproduce a moment. An atmosphere. The live environment. It will be different every time, and that is why it is beautiful.

Hangnails want to bring together different subcultures, different types of alternative music that all hold true to similar artistic values. Punk, grime, rap, electronic music – there are a lot of similarities outside of just the musical styles or aesthetics, and by offering different genres, the idea is to give a larger audience to each act performing. This is also intended to develop a more inclusive, diverse and indulgent night of live music and DJs.
