Breaking Blueskies is a series of online concerts streamed live each month via Facebook that have been raising funds for the relaunch of Two Rivers Radio

Breaking Blueskies #4 will feature live music from:

  • Frantics

Frantics are an exciting up and coming band from York. Already enjoying a great deal of airplay and playing on various live streams, their debut single ‘End of the Line’ is currently available on all major streaming platforms.

  • Charlie Swainston

Charlie is a fantastic and well established singer-songwriter on the York music scene. You may have heard him busking in the city centre or playing at one of many venues in York; he writes sensational original songs, and always brings a unique twist to classic covers.

  • Fishing4Compliments

The trio formation of Huddersfield 5 piece band Fishing4Compliments will be performing their take on the band’s catchy hook-laden folk/pop songs together with a sprinkle of cover songs that they love and that blend well with their distinctive and uplifting sound. Eileen’s clear, natural voice, sometimes with vibrato gives the band’s music a highly distinctive sound.

So far the concerts have raised £188.55 and we have raised a total of £779. Our target is £3,000 which will enable us to purchase a modular building in which to house our new studio.

Two Rivers Radio is a not-for-profit online community radio station with programmes produced and presented by the people of York, for the people of York, in the heart of York. We are also a constituted community group.

Two Rivers Radio used to broadcast weekly every Monday from midday – 10pm between Sept 2017 and April 2019. The purpose of Two Rivers Radio is to empower the community at large to make radio programmes about what is important to them, which means we have lots of music genre-specific programming as well as talk radio on topics and interests that may not be discussed on or by other local broadcasters.

Plans to relaunch in 2020 were scuppered by the coronavirus lockdowns, but we are now aiming to be back online 24/7 and bringing the best in grass-roots community radio to the people of York in summer of this year. Launch date hopefully in August, but TBC!
