S] Talk us through the writing and development for ‘Everything Nothing…’, what did you want to achieve?

Before we write an album, we always discuss ideas and where we want to go with the general direction, but every time we really just end up writing what comes naturally. Combining 4 different peoples influences and tastes always makes it tough to consciously push in a particular direction, cause each person wants different things. We really just work on songs until all 4 members are like “this sounds awesome!”

S] What is the band’s attitude to success?

We are just always looking toward the next thing and trying to grow as people and as a band. It’s amazing what we’ve accomplished in the past, and we just want to seek out more opportunities and accomplish more goals. Achieving success is a constant process and we don’t wanna get too hung up on the wins or the losses.

S] What motivates you guys outside of music, think specific people, places and films, or games for example?

We are all so different as far as our individual interests go. Dan (guitarist) has a kid and that’s a huge motivator. Alan (bass player) loves photography. Josh (drummer) runs his own small business and is into entrepreneurship. And Spencer (guitarist) is really into home recording and also does photography as a hobby. We all share a passion for travel and having unique experiences, which is great cause we get to go on tour and do that together.

S] What have you learned as a band, from your beginnings up until this point?

So much. I would say the main thing is we’ve learned more about recording, tones and gear. We’re really happy with what we captured in the studio for the new record, and that’s because we are all so experienced with the process after doing 4 albums.

S] What would you say your biggest challenges are at present?

I think just growing the band’s presence. We’d love to get on bigger tours, get our music in film and tv, and keep pushing ahead artistically. We just want as many people to hear our music as possible so we are always working on ways to keep making that happen.
