York’s own Panda Cubs release their debut video today. The hyped [now ex] student band once again prove their knack for penning experimental, introspective pop, offering up a teaser of their long-awaited four track EP.

Teetering on a bed of icy synth arpeggios, ‘Rise’ well and truly solidifies the Cubs’ lofty aspirations. The most accessible number in a considerable oeuvre, it bursts with a vitality that will – one would hope – introduce them to a far wider audience.

The video – directed by Rob Frost – makes it’s HD premiere here:

About Jonathan Cridford

Writer: I graduated with a BA Hons in Sociology from the University of York in August 2012. Upon moving to York, I discovered that not all towns were as culturally bereft as the one I had grown up in – being able to walk into a pub like the Phoenix and listen to live jazz was not an option! I have been an avid record collector and self-professed music ‘anorak’ for as long as I can remember. Settling in to northern life, I disappeared into my room with a head full of steam and a jotter of ideas, before emerging with a run of articles for the campus-based publications. Three years on, and my jotter is still full.
