Hastings’ four-piece Kid Kapichi kick off 2022 with no holds barred, releasing their venomous new track New England (featuring Bob Vylan). Brutally honest and rousing, it’s the first single to follow last year’s debut album This Time Next Year and tells of things to come later this year.

Speaking of New England, vocalist and guitarist Jack Wilson explains “New England is a song that targets the blindly patriotic, grabs them by the shoulders, shakes them and shouts ‘wake up’. We’re living in scary times where the top of society have found a way to turn the working class against themselves. We become more confident in our xenophobia as it’s only reinforced by our government on a daily basis

He adds, “We’ve been mugged off and sold a lie time and time again and the scary thing is people seem to still be making the same mistakes. Maybe out of pure ignorance or maybe in a stubborn act of defiance. Either way it’s hard to watch.

Kid Kapichi’s debut full-length This Time Next Year dropped in February 2021 (4/5 – NME, 8/10 – Gigwise), earning their stripes with a penchant for relatable, on-the-nose lyricism and honest songwriting. Their sound packs a real punch, full to the brim with the four-piece’s identity and capturing the anger and frustration of current times.

Renowned for their ferocious and euphoric live shows, on stage is where Kid Kapichi really come alive. Fronted by Jack Wilson and Ben Beetham (joint lead guitar/vocals), with the other half of their ear-shattering sound emanating from George Macdonald (drums) & Eddie Lewis (bass), they’ve shared the stage with the likes of Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, The Specials, Nothing But Thieves, Fidlar and SlavesKid Kapichi’s name is hot on the lips of the UK live circuit, with last year’s UK headline tour selling out across the country. The band are showing no signs of slowing down, with many live shows throughout the year including Riff Fest, 2000 Trees, Kendall Calling, and their biggest headline show to date at London’s hallowed Electric Ballroom. Full live dates are listed below.

2022 is shaping up to be Kid Kapichi’s biggest year to date. Further news to follow soon.
