The Royston Club are back with the eagerly anticipated new single ‘Blisters’.

Hailing from Wrexham, North Wales, the four piece have fast become one of the country’s most hotly-tipped new acts – selling out UK headline tours and dominating huge festival stages.

After a remarkable 2022 that saw them dominate festivals such as Reading & Leeds, Y Not, Neighbourhood and more, this year is undoubtedly theirs for the taking – a sentiment echoed by new single ‘Blisters’, released today via Run On Records (The Coral, Rianne Downey, The Dream Machine).

A storming statement of intent, ‘Blisters’ is an instant hit that sits in a glorious middle ground between nostalgic northern outfits like The Housemartins and modern powerhouses like Inhaler, yet still positions The Royston Club purely in their own lane. Building on everything they’ve achieved so far while taking their sound into gargantuan new territories, the single effortlessly encapsulates the big year to come for the quartet.

Speaking about ‘Blisters’, frontman Tom Faithfull said: “Blisters is about trying to navigate relationships through teenage years and the tendency that people have for settling in relationships that they’re not that happy with when they’re young to try to find some acceptance.

But being in an unhappy relationship makes moving through life more painful ultimately, hence the title ‘Blisters’. Despite not having very upbeat lyrics, the chorus was written to be shouted back at us, and with sunny afternoon slots at festivals in mind. It was one of the last songs to be written for the album. The video was shot at Delamere Forest too, just outside of Wrexham.”

Ahead of its release, ‘Blisters’ has already received extensive radio play from the likes of BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio 1, Radio X and more, building a hype around the band’s imminent debut album which is due out later this year.

More information on The Royston Club’s debut album will be released in due course.
