The K’s, comprising of lead singer Jamie Boyle, lead guitarist Ryan Breslin, bassist Dexter Baker, and drummer Nathan Peers, reflected on the year, and spoke about their upcoming debut album.

“The songs are there, the tours were selling out every time we played, it just felt like the strongest time for the band.”

The K’s (short for The Kaleidoscopes, after their local record shop), formed in 2017 and quickly rose to fame after their debut single ‘Sarajevo’ became an instant hit.

They describe themselves as a punk, rock, indie, and pop band with an ‘in your face’ sound.

Previously, Jamie stated that they wouldn’t release an album until it feels right, now years later, their debut album is finally set to release in March 2024.

“We felt like we were finally back at that point where we were going from strength to strength, and it was time to finally release what we had.”

When asked if they could tell us more, they said: “We’re so proud of it. It’s perfect. That’s all you need to know.”

The band has spent the past year on the road and supporting The Reytons, performing in venues across the country from Wrexham to Dunfermline, London to Manchester, and now their hometown Earlestown.

A small town in between the shadows of Liverpool and Manchester, Earlestown has been the muse for many of their songs, such as ‘Landmines’, inspired by their lives as teenagers growing up in the North.

They described supporting The Reytons as “the favourite tour we’ve ever been on” but headlining the Earlestown Christmas light switch-on “tops it all”.

“We’ve played all these mad shows recently, playing to thousands of people and now we’re really excited to turn the lights on in Earlestown. It’s wholesome, you know?” Jamie said.

“And it’s the last date we’re ever gonna play this year so it makes it even more special.” Ryan added.

After a busy 2023, The K’s have a big year ahead of them, with their new album in March, their own headline tour in the spring, and festival season in the summer.

The band are feeling very optimistic about the new year:

“This year we’ve gone from strength to strength and it’s going perfectly at the minute, touch wood, so we can’t wait for ‘24, it’s gonna be even better.” Said Jamie.

“We’ve just grown and grown all over the country and we’re selling out shows.” Ryan said.

In the words of the bassist, Dexter Baker: once you watch them, you get The K’s bug.
