The track was described as “a giant slab of cosmic desert rock with a hook big enough to catch a sandworm.”

The latest release from transatlantic supergroup 5 Billion In Diamonds has arrived, in the form of a brand new single, ‘Waiting to Land.’

The trio, consisting of legendary drummer and producer Butch Vig, producer Andy Jenks, and DJ James Grillo, recorded the new track at their respective bases of Bristol and LA. They then polished the single off at Rancho De La Luna in Joshua Tree.

If already being a supergroup wasn’t enough, the trio pull on a number of famous faces to guest on the track. This includes appearances from Bradley Hanan Carter (FAUX PRIX), Dave Catching (Queens of the Stone Age). Brian Aubert (Silversun Pickups), and Alex Lee (Massive Attack).

When talking about the new track, the group called it as “a giant slab of cosmic desert rock with a hook big enough to catch a sandworm.” Their label described it as having “a grudging stubbornness about it, an eeriness that places it somewhere between the Foo Fighters and The Mamas and the Papas.”

“Dreamlike verses with hypnotic xylophones crash into electric guitar rock choruses, fortifying the band’s resistance towards giving up, and willingness to wait.”

Commenting on the track’s subject matter, collaborator Bradley Hanan Carter said, “The song is about feeling trapped and realizing you need to possess insane levels of patience, humility and tenacity to survive.”

‘Waiting to Land’ is out now via FLOOD. You can stream it here.
