Coheed and Cambria have released a new standalone track, titled ‘The Joke’, which has come with a music video, as well as a 7” vinyl.

Claudio Sanchez (vocals) comments on the new song, “The meaning behind ‘The Joke’ is basically ‘if you need a punching bag, I’ll be that guy.”

‘The Joke’, plucked from their album sessions for Vaxis – Act II: A Window of the Waking Mind, will be joined by b-side, ‘Deranged’, which was previously released as part of the Batman: Arkham City soundtrack in 2011. ‘Deranged’ follows the theme of the disturbing relationship between Batman and The Joker, fitting perfectly alongside its newfound companion, ‘The Joke’.

Coheed and Cambria’s new release also came with a music video, bringing back the fan-favourite character, ‘Al The Killer’. Already, the video has accumulated a huge number of views, and has received incredible praise from the band’s followers.

To top off this already-huge release, Coheed and Cambria are offering two coloured options of 7” vinyl, with both ‘The Joke’ and ‘Deranged’. The swamp green and blood mix option is limited to 2500, where the coke bottle clear with blood splatter is limited to only 1000.
