Releasing on July 19th, ‘1=’ sees the return of rock legends Deep Purple and new single ‘Portable Door’ sees the band return in true Rock and Roll fashion. Featuring new guitarist, Simon McBride it is a single reminiscent of the classic ‘Deep Purple’ grooves that the band set out to resurrect.

Newest member Simon McBride says:

‘The new album will reflect what the five of us create in the rehearsal room. Many of the songs, like ‘Portable Door’, were written in the first sessions and literally came together in 5 or 10 minutes. It all was so easy and natural.’

The song also is accompanies by a new music video releasing on the same day that can be watched here:

Frontman Ian Gillan speaking on the creation of the band’s songs:

“Throughout Deep Purple’s history, our best songs have always been those that were written in no time at all. We’ve played what felt good and developed songs as we have always done.”

The song is an exciting taste into the bands upcoming album and is a great intro for their new guitarist, Simon McBride who seems to have settled well into the line-up.
