Hull-based pop-rock band, Meek release their new video and single, ‘Pity Party’ today.

On the release, the band state: ‘Pity Party is the first release from our forthcoming album “It’s not you, it’s MEEK”. We hadn’t planned for this to be a single, but we were having a Disney Karaoke party… as you do… to celebrate coming out of the “last lockdown”, summer ’21. Seeing what an effort our friends were making with costumes in the group chat leading up to the party, it was clearly going to be too good a visual opportunity to miss! We got Matt Molson and Luke Hallett down with a couple of days’ notice, a couple of “camcorders”, only a rough demo of the track to work to and zero storyline or direction… so it’s VHS vibes on an actual home video of our Karaoke. It was the party we all craved after all the lockdowns and cancellations, so the track really fit the theme.

We had a ball recording this song in particular at YUBA Studio, deliriously getting daft and experimental with werewolf howls – even one of their cats joined in?! It’s very us?! Jessy and I really bounced off each other with the lyrics too.
Pity Party has so much energy and attitude live, it’s definitely one of our favourites – we’re really excited for our first Headline show in Hull on Tuesday 21st December at The New Adelphi! £5 in, proceeds to Purple House.‘”
