Having recently caught I Tell Lies at a Fulford Arms Battle of The Bands, we wanted to get the band on the site with a little Q&A about the music, message and more! Dig in.

S] How are you guys doing today?

Alreyt Dom, how are you?

S] Tell me about your attitude to live performance, it is quite the show!!

When we perform live we want it to be maximum energy and complete chaos. We want the crowd to let loose and let their alter egos come out. A lot of people in their day-to-day life can find it a struggle and we’d like to think that we can give them an escape for 40 mins or so. Chaos can be therapeutic.

S] How important is the visual aspect of what you do as a band?

The visual aspect pretty much comes hand in hand with our live performance, we aren’t necessarily bothered with image it just comes naturally when we start to perform. We don’t take ourselves too seriously and aren’t afraid to take the piss out of ourselves.

S] How do you define success as a band?

Practically speaking success as a band is reaching some level of fame where people are streaming our music and coming to our shows and from that being able to earn money and do it for a living. Let’s have it right, if bands are saying they’re doing it for the love of music they’re telling you porky pies mate.

S] What inspired the track, ‘Limbs’ and ‘World Is A Stage’?

‘Limbs’ and ‘World Is A Stage’ send a similar message as all of our songs do. They exploit the lies, greed and corruption of our Tory government. A party that only benefits itself and its lobbyists and investors and the normal everyday people have to suffer the aftermaths of their leadership.

Limbs is very on the nose and the message is clear, whereas World Is A Stage is more abstract, lyrically. Both are a force and wave of noise when played loud or live.

S] What inspires you outside of music – think people, places, and more?

Everyday stuff inspires us. To be honest toilet graffiti inspires us…your 9-5 worker shitting on company time.

S] What is your message to people who have supported you, and will continue to do so?

To our supporters just keep showing up and we’ll keep bringing the heat. These shows only happen because of you guys and there’s nothing we love more than seeing all your pretty faces shouting back at us from the crowd.

S] Is there anything else you’d like to add before we finish?

Fuck the Tories, fuck the king. The world is yours.

S] Thanks for your time!!
