The three-piece alt-rock group milkshed have released their highly-anticipated debut EP ‘Mud.’ The gritty collection of songs, including new track ‘Fairweather friend’ is out now!
On ‘Mud’ milkshed’s raw energy and introspective song writing create a fresh grimy and grungy rock sound alongside, lyrics focusing on dynamic and matured concepts like leaning into change, coming to terms with life and feeling helpless.
On the track ‘Fairweather Friend’ Frontman Cam comments, “It’s about shedding the unnecessary weight that we gather in relationships as we get older; you realise that some friendships only exist because of happenstance, and when it really comes down to it, they don’t have the glue that’s needed to remain intact.”
The groups first release, ‘Apex Predator,’ caught the attention of Grammy-winning producer/mixer Adrian Bushby, known for his work with artists like Foo Fighters, which led to his collaboration with the band to finish the remainder of their debut EP.
The band said of the experience with Bushby, “Adrian’s worked with huge bands like Foo Fighters, has a great level of focus and is very efficient in the way he works. It was challenging at times because he demanded a certain degree of decisiveness, which we weren’t used to, having self-produced our first two releases. However, we learned a lot from the way he worked and are grateful for the experience.”
milkshed have an incredible ability to blend 90s grunge and garage rock elements with pop song writing sensibilities.
