The Leeds songwriter announces his third single and further UK festival dates.

After a decade involved in various Leeds projects including, Ruthie, Menace Beach and Bruising, West Yorkshire songwriter and producer Ben Lewis takes centre stage, and has announced his third single, ‘The Seventh Time’ is set for release on May 5th.

The track takes an angle on modern pop that is as equally personable as it is subtly danceable. A more mellowed and softer-edged approach than LCD Soundsystem whilst retaining the anthemic qualities. Spacious but intimate is a fitting description for the song, which ends up as a hybrid of modern alt-pop, subdued Americana with a glimmer of alternative music just visible across the surface.

Spielmann are also set to play multiple UK festivals, including Green Man, Bluedot, The Great Escape, Dot To Dot and more.

Speaking about ‘The Seventh Time, Lewis explains: “The Seventh Time is a conversation between two friends, one putting all their time and effort into ‘discovering’ who they are, and the other trying to stage some sort of intervention. It finishes up with a message of just kind of, being yourself, and being comfortable with who you are, which is a nice thing…Whether the intervention is a successful one or not remains to be seen…”

Spielmann emerged at the end of 2022, quickly opening for Yard Act at a sold-out Leeds 02 Academy for his third gig under the monicker. Now, Spielmann are about to embark on a summer of shows across the UK, and plan to release music throughout this busy touring schedule.

‘The Seventh Time’ releases May 5th, 2023.
