Brighton-based feminist electro-punk trio CLT DRP continue an unstoppable string of exceptional releases with another brand new single in the form of gender-fluid love song ‘Until You Showed Me’, set for release on 28th February 2024 via Venn Records.

Recorded at Brighton Electric, produced by Alex Gordon, and mastered by Tom Hall, ‘Until You Showed Me’ is the first new material from the band since the 2023 release of their second album Nothing Clever, Just Feelings which is out now via Venn Records (Bob Vylan, Witch Fever, Meryl Streek).

Fresh from a run of French headline dates, the band are also delighted to announce a select handful of UK headline dates plus their debut run of Irish shows alongside 2024 festival appearances at Strangeforms, Reverie, Noizze Fest, Ceremony, Brighten The Corners, 2000 Trees and more.

Tickets are on sale now with Irish tour dates on sale Friday 1st March, see below for listings.

Commenting on the track, vocalist Annie Dorrett says: “Femininity is a word that has haunted me my whole life, whereas Masculinity is something that I’ve longed for. ‘Until You Showed Me’ is a love song to my current partner for making my gender fluidity something that they nourish and make room for rather than dismiss or ignore. It’s no secret that a lot of people feel the need to lean into a gender role in order to gain respect or normalcy and if they mess with anything outside the binary it can seem threatening. Funnily enough I’ve found myself playing with my femininity a lot more now that I’ve found comfort in my skin again. This song is a little ode to the queers and anyone who strays from the binary in any way small or large. Break the wall from either side, that’s how we get ‘em to listen.”

The track comes with an official video directed and edited by Sam Morris at Avocado Baby Film and featuring Oli Hopkins, El Murphy, Mikey Squire, Daphne Koskeridou, Annie Dorrett, Erin Munn, Phoebe Bentham, and Gaëlle Croguennec.

The band’s latest album Nothing Clever, Just Feelings was recorded at Shaken Oak Studios in Oxford over the course of a week in March 2022, and produced by Alex Gordon (The Cure, Tigercub, Sea Power, Blood Red Shoes). With the studio based in a rural setting on a farm, guitarist Scott Reynolds enjoyed a morning trail run before starting each day, and the band cooked family-style for each other every day.

Hailed as “one of the freshest albums to spring from the UK underground in some time” by Kerrang! Magazine and reaffirming CLT DRP’s unique position at the cutting edge of electronic, noise-infused music, Nothing Clever, Just Feelings seamlessly merges various genres to create a unique sound that is both exhilarating and reflective.

Focused on themes of queerness and heartbreak, each track explores the raw emotions that come along with these lived experiences, delivering a personal and poignant message at every turn—newfound feminism in vulnerability and gender fluidity; newfound femininity in humour and the fear of being alone.
