Electroclash artist Lynks has been dropping a slew of brilliantly horny queer bangers throughout 2023 – “NEW BOYFRIEND,” in particular with its sassy vocals and blow-out percussive strut, was a real highlight of mine which came within whiskers of cracking my personal Top 50 for the year.  The forever-masked singer seems on the verge of cracking out of the underground and becoming a true cult star, and they’re kicking off 2024 with a pair of moves designed to get that ball rolling: Lynks has signed to Heavenly Recordings (most relevant here for being the former home of Confidence Man) and announced their debut full-length, ABOMINATION, dropping in April.

2023’s trio of singles – “SEX WITH A STRANGER,” opener “USE IT OR LOSE IT,” and the aforementioned “NEW BOYFRIEND” – are all included, as is newest bop “CPR.”  Co-written by PVA’s Josh Baxter, the song channels Miami bass, SOPHIE, and the production of mid-00s Neptunes for a bouncy playful take on playing meek in order to attract hot guys.  As Lynks explains:

“There’s this temptation to shrink yourself and make yourself seem all helpless and vulnerable with those guys, so they get to feel like some Big Strong Man protecting you. CPR felt like the perfect metaphor for that weird dynamic.  I first had the idea for CPR while doing a first-aid course at my old job. I was mid-chest compression on my dummy, and suddenly the chorus just came into my head over the rhythm of my hands on the doll. I quickly ran to the toilet to do a voice note, then got back to saving imaginary lives.”

Check out the equally fun video by Kassandra Powell below and prepare to hear Lynks music all over the gay clubs this year.

ABOMINATION releases on 12th April via Heavenly Recordings.  Lynks is also touring the UK throughout April and you can check out the dates here.
