The Pleasure Dome have released their AA-Side Single ‘Insane/Love is Dead’ today on all digital streaming platforms. They have also announced have signed up with Hound Gawd! Records and will release their debut album later this year.

This marks the first taste of new material from the Bristol grunge-rock/punk trio since the release of their 2022 single ‘If Meaning’. The band also revealed videos for ‘Insane’ which was made up of fan footage taken from their UK/EU tours, and ‘Love is Dead’ which was made using found footage of a Soviet Presidential Funeral. The video for Love is Dead can be watched below:

Guitarist and vocalist, Bobby Spender, who edited both videos said that the Soviet footage “…represents the funeral of love and the grief you experience at the end of a relationship.”

Commenting on ‘Love is Dead’, Spender says: “Believe it or not I was listening to a lot of The Strokes and The Libertines first albums when I wrote this song, but also Nirvana too, so it came out a bit more heavy. The relationship I was in at the time was starting to go wrong and breakdown—we wanted different things, but we were in love and I felt like I was losing my mind.

“I had episodes of psychosis and schizophrenia in my 20s, something I have more of a handle on now, but I was scared I was starting to lose my mind again. This song was a bit about coming to terms with that, questioning my own sanity while a relationship breaks down. It always feels to me like a song that opens the gates of hell, a release of frustration and negativity, self-deprecation; an ode to psychosis and love.”

The band have also released some UK Live dates which are below:

22/07 – Nozstock Festival

02/09 – Goodentime Festival, Somerset

28/09 – The Grace, London

Dan Carver is known for dressing up in heavy metal clothing and listening to 80's disco music. Science says that shouldn't be possible. Yet he's only gone and done it.
What a croc shoe.
